Organizational Structures

Home and family are two different structures, each with their own hierarchical structures. Homework is an anomaly that traverses the boundaries between home and school. The assignments are made at the school to take place in the home. Since the power to modify or waive the assignment belongs to the teachers and not to the parent, the parent can get driven into a frenzy, and is powerless to get the child to comply. This disturbs the natural hierarchies as the parent becomes the enforcer of behaviors for the school. Parents need to be heads of their own homes. Children need to feel their parents are in charge. Most parents will support the school, if the child is not homework trapped. If your child is homework trapped, you need to be the one who has the final say.
